About the 39th District
The 39th Senate District generally includes most of the City of San Diego north of SR-94, with the exception of City Heights and Scripps Ranch. It brings in the cities of Coronado, Del Mar, and Solana Beach to a central San Diego district that represents approximately 930,000 residents. In 2008, the district voted for President Obama by a 61%-37% margin. Most of the region's four-year higher education institutions like SDSU, UCSD, USD and Point Loma Nazarene are located in the 39th Senate District, making this a strong fit for Marty Block's strengths.
